Second Anniversary of Website2007-11-25
 |
My Dear Parishioners,
The Website Committee of St. George’s Church reminded us recently of the Second Anniversary of this cyber operation.
|
The website was launched in October 2005 and it is growing in strength, as it continues to meet the committee’s objectives of proclaiming the Christian message online, and serving as an information resource for the local, regional and global Christian community.
In a letter read in Church a few Sundays ago, the Committee expressed its great satisfaction and appreciation for what the members have been able to accomplish for the Anglican Church in St. Kitts through this medium.
The Committee indicated its gratitude to all contributors and particularly to the clergy in the various parishes, reporting that seven of those were now being featured on the home page with weekly meditation and up to date event postings. The letter stated also that the website continues to attract a global readership base, and that it has links with other Church sites, such as the World Council of Churches, our Companion Diocese of St. Albans in England, the Diocese of the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Cathedral Church of St. Michael and All Angels, Barbados, the Church of England, the Ministry of Tourism, St. Kitts -Nevis and many other sites.
The top ten countries which are most attracted to the site are: The United States of America, EU countries, Great Britain, Antigua and Barbuda, Canada, Australia, India, Germany, Barbados and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
Commentary meditations from the Priest’s Pen Online Library continue to attract the highest traffic from the site’s 100+ web-page subsidiaries. The other most accessed pages include: Contact, Notices for St. George’s with St. Barnabas, Links, Services, Ministries and AYPA Branch information. With the AYPA page being accessed so regularly, it is understood that young persons are getting more and more interested in what the youth are doing in our Churches. Our young people are therefore encouraged to keep on sending information to the website: www.stkittsanglicanchurch.org
Web-site behaviour for the month of October was as follows: The Ave. No. of Unique Visitors per day was 29; it was less in the previous month. The Ave. No. of Page Views per day was 198; that was more than the month before.
The Committee is also encouraging other church groups and organizations to use this ministry to promote themselves and their activities, to advertise up-coming events and to share information with other parishes on the Island and with the diocese as a whole. The committee would therefore welcome your comments and suggestions towards making this web-ministry even better in the months ahead. To keep this site current however, we need your regular input. It is updated every week-end or whenever it becomes necessary, that is to say, as information comes to hand. The St. George’s Website Committee is depending on you.
I wish therefore to thank the Committee for all its hard work and particularly Mr. Gregory Bowrin on study leave in England, for keeping Church members informed through these media.
With all good wishes,
Archdeacon Val Hodge
