National Day of Prayer, 20062006-06-01The Churches in the Federation have declared Thursday 1st June, 2006, as a National Day of Prayer and Fasting to ask for healing because our Islands are plagued by crime.
A call to prayer and repentance is the first thing we should do in times of national stress, crisis, calamity and disaster. Each church will organize a midday prayer session for its members, presided over by the Minister in Charge or a designated Church Leader.
At 3:00 p.m, all citizens will gather at the Patsy Allers Playing Field for a Mass Prayer March through Central Street, pausing for prayer at Key places in Basseterre and climaxing with a major Rally at the cenotaph.
An amnesty for small firearms turned in is being sought, and media houses are being encouraged to support the day with appropriate music and programming. Positively charged pre-recorded commentary by community leaders will enhance such programmes.
