Dear Parishioner

The Apostle Paul has a word for being a worthy citizen of God’s Kingdom on earth, “Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.” (Philippians 1:27).

Paul urges the Philippians of the Church and all of us believers today to conduct ourselves worthy as citizens of heaven.  Included in the conduct is to stand together with one purpose; and to fight together for the Christian faith handed down to us by the founding Fathers.  We can do this ably by not forgetting that God deserves our first allegiance; and not let all sorts of opportunities slip by us, and then begin to focus on unimportant details, instead of the bigger picture of living out our faith in such a way that glorifies the Father and draws others to a relationship with him.  To do otherwise displeases God and grieves His heart, to see His children (Christians) fighting with one another instead of fighting together against the foe.
Indeed, God must be shaking his head in frustration when we let small problems rule our thoughts, instead of focusing on his grace and love.

How do we think God feels with all the untowardness that are taking place in our twin Island Federation, when there is little is so respect for law and order, very little discipline in our homes, no respect for authority, everybody is in control in the home, in school and the church, adults are using up young people’s space, while children are the adults of today, very little thirst for worship by most families, single or otherwise - happenings that are taking place today in our twin Island Federation?   Let me answer the question by stating that He is very hurt over the entire affairs.   For years we as citizens have been saying to God stay out our affairs; if we ever feel we want your advice we may call, but for now, Do Not Show up. Thank you!  We must run our Government our way. As far as our homes are concerned, we know too well where we are heading.  Prayers must be absent in our families, schools, public places and businesses; because our people and children can do without that underlay .

Our God knows too well how to stay out of people.s affairs.  When Abraham virtually said to God, Sarah and I can handle her infertility problem, God simply backed off; and the couple worked out their own plan.  This is what the writer said reference the situation, “Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, ‘Will a child be born to a man one hundred years old? And will Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child? And Abraham said to God, "Oh that Ishmael might live before You!  But God said, No, but Sarah your wife will bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his descendants after Him, ’”As impossible as the
Word of God sounded, it came to pass; Abraham and Sarah did have a son in their old age named Isaac.  God’s promise is always sure and steadfast.

When Christians fall in line with untowardness, God steps aside. When being interviewed by Jane Clayson as to why God allowed September 11, Billy Graham’s daughter Ann Graham said, When Dr. Benjamin Spock said ‘we should not spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem ...we say an expert should know what he is talking about, and we said ok. Now we are asking ourselves why our children have no conscience.  Why they do not know right from wrong, and why it does not bother them to kill their classmates [others] and themselves…   Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world’s going to hell.   Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but Question what the Bible says.   Funny how we can send “jokes” through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord people think twice about sharing it.”

The Apostle Paul is very right when he says, “For being a worthy citizen of God’s Kingdom on earth, ‘Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ.”’ (Phil. 1:27).

As we celebrate this our 33rd Independence let us examine our citizenship to see if our Passport only distinguishes us as St Christopher and Nevis only or St Christopher, Nevis and Citizens of God’s Kingdom superimposed.
