Under the Shadow of the Almighty2008-04-13
The words of the well-known hymn “under his wings, under his wings, who from his love can sever” echo the theme of this year’s Diocesan Youth Week. Psalm 91 reminds us of the idea of being shadowed beneath God’s protective hand.
We are admonished that “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
Today we are living in a chaotic world. We are faced with many trials, temptations and afflictions. We are also confronted by murder, the neglect of the elderly, disrespect and the rising cost of living. Nonetheless, we are reminded that God promises never to leave nor forsake us. Indeed, we must remember that we are to seek his guidance in everything we do. Therefore let us take comfort in the words of Psalm 91 : 4 “He shall cover you with His feathers, and under his wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.”
