God Will Provide

2009-03-01

Today's sermonette is based on the Scripture from St. Mathew Chapter 6 verse 25.

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Look at the birds of the air; they neither so nor reap no gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And can you by worrying add a single hour to the span of your life?”

From the ground we came and to the ground we shall return. We are dust, but it is the Spirit of God that gives us our worth. On our God in Heaven is where our concerns should lie. We have to put our trust in God and use our faith, so that we may endure this life.

Life is simple, but we are the ones who complicate things for ourselves. Why do we worry and pine over the necessities which God already stated he will provide for us. Verses 31and 32 clearly state that God will take care of us. " Therefore do not worry, saying, What will we eat? or what will we drink or what will we wear?. For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your Heavenly Father knows that you NEED all these things."

This verse is assuring enough to know that God is aware and will give you the things you need. We will be clothed, fed and sheltered, but sometimes we are not satisfied with what God has offered and so we stretch our hands more than we can reach. We don't want a house with four walls and a roof, but rather a ten storey building with 19 bedrooms, 34 bathrooms, marbled floors, 20 chandeliers and two swimming pools. We don't want a loaf of bread and a piece of fish, but rather some caviar and fine cuisine. We don't want a shirt and pants unless they are of a well- known brand. So outdo ourselves and then ask God why he has forsaken us. God has not forsaken us, it is because of us that we are in the economic and other crises that we are in presently. God said in the last days perilous times will come. Take a close look at it; we are the ones who bring these plagues on ourselves. Our hearts are harden and our faith dwindling all because of our greed - " For the love of money is the root of all evil", is a well -known verse of Scripture. We are dissatisfied with what God gives us and so we worry about the things he does not want us to worry about.

Brothers and sisters in Christ the next time we find ourselves worrying about the necessities of life, just revisit the Gospel according to St. Mathew, Chapter 6 and verse 25 to the end, and it will bring you some hope and fulfillment.

In closing, always remember that God will provide and as verse 34 states " Don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today's troubles is enough for today."
